RPC Containers Rushden has created a new stacking pack design for Cuprinol Sprayable Fence Paint. Cuprinol is a brand from AkzoNobel and it is a leader in the Garden Woodcare market. The new design enhances on-shelf appeal and usability of the paint.
Cuprinol brand required a pack that appeared unique on-shelf and during usage. In addition, the pack’s exterior look needed to clearly provide information of the contents as an outdoor paint. Retailers noted that the product should be easily stackable while retaining the dimensions and the neck position. This would make sure that fewer changes are required in production and filling plants. In general, stackable packs need a deep indent so that caps fit exactly into the base of the one placed above. This requires a complex mold design, which is not possible with blow molding machine normally used to produce HDPE retail packs. In addition, a new handle was required due to the limited shape of the top of the stackable container.
The new radical stackable container was introduced on-shelf in March 2011. It is evident from the retail outlets that the new design allows stacking of more products in a less space. RPC Market Rasen has manufactured the injection molded polypropylene handle that fits the limited gap between the cap and the top upstand. When the handle is placed horizontally, containers can be stacked together on pallets.
