Coperion, based in Stuttgart, Germany has received an order for a ZSK Mc18 series twin screw extruder from Ensinger, a company specializing in the manufacture of compounds, semi-finished products and finished products in high performance engineering plastics.
Ensinger will use the new compounder at its Nufringen, Germany manufacturing site to produce high-grade compounds strengthened with carbon fibers or glass.
The compounder includes one ZS-EG twin screw side devolatilization unit, two ZS-B side feeders and 45 mm diameter screws. The ZS-B side feeders allow feeding of additives and fillers for the process and one ZS-B side feeder is integrated with the Feed Enhancement Technology (FET). The technology helps to feed large volumes of additives and fillers with low bulk density, such as hollow glass beads and talc. The ZS-EG side devolatilization unit provides efficient degassing and prevents product leakage.
ZSK Mc18 has about 50% higher heating capacity, which means that necessary high processing temperatures of over 350 °C can be easily attained and maintained with absolute accuracy. The compounder is used to process standard matrix materials: polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyether ether ketone (PEEK) and polyamide (PA). The features of ZSK Mc18 twin screw compounding extruders are improved temperature control, user-friendly thermal barrel covers, higher throughput rate and decreased input of specific energy into the product due to the higher torque.
