Hosokawa Micron’s 5D Rigid Containment Screens Improve Operator Safety

Hosokawa Micron, a provider of clean air technology, can now offer novel designs of downflow booths containing the latest 5D rigid containment screens, which can provide exceptional operator exposure levels down to <1 µg/m3 to powder handling operatives based on the applications.

5D Rigid Containment Screen

The latest 5D containment screens form a physical shield between the source of dust particles and the operator. This 5D screen provides tilt and pivot, side to side, back to front, and up and down movements, offering better operational movement to operators compared to the restricted movement screens. Since operators can move freely, they can perform processing and packaging jobs easily and efficiently without deviating from the regular operating processes.

The 5D containment screens are the new members of the portfolio of flexible and rigid 2D, 3D and 4D screens. These screens make the operatives to move with optimal freedom to perform processes with no restrictions but they should be in set positions for safety purposes when performing certain jobs. Whenever idle, they can be securely placed against the booth wall.

The rigid screens are produced from clear Perspex or glass for optimal visibility and are offered in different sizes. Based on their needs, customer can select from a variety of latex, vinyl, and neoprene gauntlet or glove options integrated within the screens. Operator safety levels can be enhanced by retrofitting the containment screens with the existing downflow booths.
