Southwire Company has awarded a contract to Siemens VAI Metal Technologies to supply aluminium rod rolling mills to Beauty Sun Holdings through a new manufacturing facility, which will be located in Yixing, Jiangsu Province, China.
The new plant is expected to be set up by the beginning of 2012. Siemens will take up engineering, manufacturing and commissioning of the new plant.
The aluminium rods produced in the new facility will primarily be for the conductor market. As part of the contract, Seimens will provide rods measuring 9.5 mm, 12 mm and 15 mm in diameter from 11 stands that will run 15 t in an hour. The company will also provide a dual reel coiler and an entry shear and table. It will also provide coiler equipment for a Southwire SCR AL 7000 rolling mill. The copper rod system that Southwire has presently, was also provided by Seimens VAI Technologies.
Beauty Sun Holdings, which is part of the Earth Dragon Group is situated in Yixing, China. Southwire Company has worked in partnership with Siemens VAI Technologies for the past 40 years and has been responsible for the completion of around 30 upgrades and construction of 80 and more non-ferrous mills for Southwire Company.
