Viral Genetics’s subsidiary, VG Energy has announced that its Chief Scientist, Dr. M. Karen Newell Rogers has delivered a keynote presentation at the NanoEnergy Summit conducted by the Colorado School of Mines, the National Renewable Energy Lab of the U.S. Department of Energy and the biofuels industry.
The Nano Energy Summit that was held in Golden Colorado from 25 to 26 October 2011, was a meeting place of experts in the fields of energy and nanotechnology, with a special focus on the commercialization, business and economic development prospects of the upcoming technologies in the field of energy.
At the Summit, Dr. Rogers discussed her research associated with the bio-fuels sector. Her study findings revealed the energy strategy of the cell and that strategy’s impact on the immune response. By targeting the metabolic disorder in tumor cells, Dr. Rogers and her team have detected the way to control the energy options of the cells, making them unable to hide or survive from the immune system.
The research team has used this technique to vegetations, and developed a simple and strong process of improving oil output from algae and other vegetations, resulting in a source of alternative energy without the disadvantages of waste and cost. The Chief Executive Officer at VG Energy, Haig Kaledjian stated that VG Energy is using this technology for its developments that find direct use in the algal biofuels market.
