UK-based home appliances brand Breville has introduced a new hot water dispenser called the HotCup, which is made from Eastman Tritan Copolyester. Tritan, which is free of bisphenol A has additional properties such as enhanced durability and clarity.
Unlike regular water heaters, which consume a lot of energy to boil water, the HotCup boils only the right amount of water required for tea. This property makes it a more economical and convenient option against the water kettle. Users have the option to choose from a range of 150 ml and 300 ml, which are the sizes of a regular small cup and a large cup. According to Stewart Gordon, who is the Industrial Design Manager of Pulse Home Products, the parent company of Breville, Eastman Tritan Copolyester was the ideal choice of material due to the fact that it can be easily moulded and it does not have the cloudy appearance like polypropylene. Additionally, the material has an appearance similar to glass, which provides a luxurious look to the product and ensures durability.
Eastman Tritan Copolyester was first introduced to Breville in 2008 at the International Home and Housewares Show held in Chicago. While materials from Eastman are used by many manufacturers as a primary ingredient in many household appliances, Breville provides a wide range of kitchen appliances such as microwaves, kettles, food processors, blenders and toasters.
