Cereplast, which specialises in manufacturing compostable and sustainable plastics has signed a distribution agreement with Turkish plastic trader, GAMA Plastik to supply bioplastic resin in Turkey.
As per the three year agreement, Cereplast will supply 200 t of the material in 2012 and will further increase the supply by 2013. The company expects to generate revenue from the transaction in the subsequent 90 days.
According to the Chairman and CEO of Cereplast, Frederic Scheer, Turkey is becoming a fast growing market for plastics in Europe next to Italy and Germany and the demand is likely to increase over the next five years. This will facilitate both the companies to achieve growth through partnership. According to the CEO of GAMA Plastik Aydemir Escensan, Turkey has a young population and is poised for growth in terms of market share in the plastics industry. Most of the company’s customers are willing to use products that are made of raw material from Cereplast.
Cereplast uses processes such as blow moulding, thermoforming, injection moulding and extrusions to form sustainable plastics that are competitively priced against regular plastics. Bioresin plastic is particularly ideal for applications that involve single usage and properties such as compostability are essential. An ideal example would be the food industry. Sustainable resins from the company are used in the packaging, automotive and consumer electronic industries.
