The production facility of Vertellus Specialties in Nantong, Jiangsu, China with a 10,000 t of 3-cyanopyridine manufacturing system has currently started the commercial production. This manufacturing system is an essential part of Vertellus’Asian growth strategy and is a vital factor for increasing the production capacity in Nantong.
The increase in production capacity will improve the business development in Asia, particularly in China, and keep the company’s cyanopyridines production position at a higher level in the world.
Rich Preziotti, Vertellus’ Chief Executive Officer, stated that this commercial production startup creates a milestone in the company’s plan for a prolonged growth strategy throughout the pyridine value chain. Preziotti said that the requirement of derivatives of pyridine such as 3-cyanopyridine and vitamin B3 is extensively increasing across the world, especially in Asia. Preziotti added that the company aims to maintain its business leadership position and technology in pyridine chemistry and proposed an aggressive strategic plan to improve its business in China.
The Nantong Reilly Chemicals Company (NRCC), a pyridine and picolines enterprise was successfully established using Vertellus’ investment in 3-cyanopyridine production in 2001, which is the first picolines and pyridine production plant in China. On December 6, 2010 the company had taken over the remaining shares held by it partner NRCC. The company’s world class 3-cyanopyridine production facility in Nantong is developed with recent, environmentally sound and most efficient technology solutions, which ensures it to maintain its global position in 3-cyanopyridine production.
