Applied Plastics has launched a specialty service for precisely finishing the nitinol and stainless steel hypodermic tubing with PTFE material, such that the physical properties of the tubing are retained. The hypodermic tubes coated with the PTFE fluoropolymer are bio-compatible, chemically inert and are capable of operating at temperatures of 288°C.
The hypotubes are finished by coating a thin, smooth layer of PTFE fluoropolymer, thereby ensuring optimum release slip characteristics. The PTFE material is coated to the outer circumference of stainless steel/nitinol hypodermic tubes with a tolerance rate of about +/-0.0001 in. to +/-0.0004 in. The final PTFE coating hypodermic tubes comes in various colors such as grey, black, green and blue.
Applied Plastics also provides materials having increased lubricity, which can be applied in the manufacture of a broad range of medical systems and instruments. This Applied Plastics’ hypodermic tubing PTFE fluoropolymer coating service can also be employed in precise coating of various forms of hypotubes including skived, crimped, spiral, slotted, ground, and flared hypotubes, with the help of a marker band at user-defined intervals. The cost for this service of PTFE material coating is charged based on the coating quantity, user-defined requirements and the coating material used.
