Novelis, the global leader in aluminum can recycling and aluminum rolled products, is collaborating with the Commissioner of Tailgating, the Atlanta Falcons and Falcons backfield man Pro Bowl Ovie Mughelli to support aluminum beverage can recycling.
Fans of the Atlanta Falcons are requested to attend a Novelis tailgate party before the December 15th game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Falcons at the Georgia Dome. The party will take place from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Falcons Landing away from the Dome.
Joe Cahn, Commissioner of Tailgating, will help host the event. He will be crossing the nation in his RV to spread the message of aluminum recycling to the audience at 17 NFL stadiums as part of Can Crusade, a campaign launched by the Aluminum Association. Falcons fullback Ovie Mughelli, team talisman Freddy the Falcon, the Falcons cheerleaders and Can Man, Novelis’ aluminum-themed mascot, will also be attending the Novelis tailgate party. The party is open to all the public and it is free. The Commissioner will distribute the Can Crusade t-shirts and hats as well as other promotional articles during the party.
Derek Prichett, Novelis’ vice president for global recycling, said that the company is eager to team up with the Falcons to spread the recycling message to native football fans in Atlanta. He also stated that the company recycles nearly 40 billion aluminum cans annually.
Novelis supplies rolled aluminum products to top brands, including Anheuser-Busch, Coca-Cola, Audi, BMW, Ford, Mercedes, Samsung and LG. The company’s can recycling operations retain 1.2 billion pounds of aluminum worldwide from going into the dump. In May this year, the company pledged to increase the use of recycled metal in its rolling operations to 80% by 2020.
