Porvair Filtration Group, an international leader in the development and marketing of materials and solutions for filtration and separation applications, has signed a contract with Posco E&C, a unit of Posco, to provide char filtration equipment to the Gwangyang facility of Posco in South Korea.
Posco E&C is a multinational steel manufacturer. It is developing a coal gasification plant to generate synthetic natural gas (SNG) to power its Gwangyang facility. The gasification plant will integrate Porvair’s hot gas filtration system to clear away fly ash at the time of the gasification process. The hot gas filtration system, which provides gas above 300°C, is a well-established technology with more than 10 years in service.
Tom Liddell, Porvair Filtration Group’s Managing Director, stated that this new contract will strengthen the company’s reliability in the gasification market and will exhibit its aptitude in hot gas filtration.
Porvair is driving originality in gasification to empower the creation of synthetic natural gas with products that encompass a series of high temperature filter components, cyclones and pulse jet blowdown systems. The company delivers distinguished filtration technology to the Aerospace, Nuclear, Energy, Defence, Industrial Process, Chemical Process, Medical/Life Science, Water Treatment and Printing markets.
Porvair Filtration Group and Posco E&C have signed the hot gas filtration agreement to produce revenues of $10-15 million. Tom Liddell commented that Porvair will become POSCO E&C’s selected provider for future SNG facilities.
