Aluminium Company of Malaysia (ALCOM), a subsidiary of Novelis, has announced that it has expanded its manufacturing plant located at Bukit Raja, Malaysia at a cost of $5 million. As part of the expansion, the company has installed a tension leveller system in order to enhance the quality and its product mix by providing additional coil flatness and surface cleanliness.
This additional investment will not only help the company in improving its current range of heavy gauge foil and aluminium sheet products but will also help the company in breaking into the aluminium sheets for the consumer electronics market. The installation was completed within the scheduled time and under proper safety conditions.
Novelis has a 59% ownership in ALCOM which specialises in producing a wide range of rolled products such as heavy-gauge foil and sheet products by using continuous caster technology. Novelis is majorly involved in the production of aluminium rolled products and recycling of aluminium cans. The company has operations in 11 countries across the world and supplies foil and sheet products to the packaging, electronics, automotive, transportation, construction and printing industries in South America, Europe, North America and Asia. Novelis in turn is a subsidiary of Hindalco industries, a flagship company of Aditya Birla Group.
