The automotive refinish division of PPG Industries has released the EC800 Ultra Fast Clearcoat, 2.1 VOC, high-production, air-dry clear to be used along with the superior performance ENVIROBASE system.
The innovative clearcoat has been designed in order to support high-capacity collision repair centers concentrated on cutting refinish cycle times and at the same time offering superior quality finishes.
According to PPG compliant segment manager, Jeff Griffin, North America, the EC800 provides a wide range of advantages that manufacture-oriented repair facilities will find impressive. He added that the clear coat enables excellent cycle time performance and at the same time satisfies all VOC regulations and also said that the coating offers superior appearance and gloss.
EC800 is ideal for multi and single-panel repairs and needs no flash time between coats as well as it gets dried dust-free in just 10 mins. Furthermore, EC800 does not need a separate time for baking time in the paint booth, hence enabling shop owners to reduce costs and energy consumption.
Griffin stated that EC800 was designed to ensure higher speed and more convenient application without compromising the quality, final appearance, durability or finish. The idea is to enable shop owners to increase productivity and output and minimize energy expenses. With a large number of collision centers utilizing Envirobase High Performance waterborne basecoat, EC800 is a perfect addition to their refinish process.
