Sandvik Coromant, a manufacturer of metal cutting tools, declared that its tungsten carbide recycling program in the U.S. has been shifted to its business services organization. Recycling has been considered as an additional business opportunity for the company and its customers, besides contributing to a green environment.
For several years, Sandvik Coromant has been a promoter of environmental sustainability in the manufacturing industry. In 1996, the Sandvik Coromant recycling concept (CRC) was reinforced to reduce waste and balance the consequences that arise due to the utilization of raw materials in the industry.
Recently, the business services of the company established that tungsten carbide recycling was eco-friendly but that was not all. Sandvik Coromant created a closed-looped manufacturing supply chain for Tungsten carbide, thus visualizing business opportunities beyond just benefitting the environment.
The perspective of customer's value chain is based on carbide recycling R&D supported by production logistics. This facilitates the customers to involve in recycling for several applications including dispensing of carbide inserts, its benefits in collection, manufacture, recycling and the investment to procure new inserts or to accept grants for new tooling projects.
The manager of business services, Karl Almquist says that recycling exceeded the expected environmental benefits and has successfully promoted it to have outstanding advancements in the next generation. It helps the companies look beyond their limits. The companies should prioritize sustainability for the business and then work for the manifestation and promotion of the business opportunities that exist within the company.
