Asahi Kasei Plastics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Asahi Kasei Chemicals and a provider of customized resin solutions to global markets, announced that it will display its new resin technologies at NPE 2012 international exhibition that is to be held from April 1 to 5 in Orlando, Florida.
Based on the varying demands from customers in several industries, the company has introduced new technologies and capabilities resulting in innovative eco-friendly products. The new resin solutions offered by Asahi Kasei Plastics include Xyron PV Grades, Thermylene P4, Thermylene P8, Thermylene P9, Tenac Z-Series and Leona LG.
Xyron PV Grades include modified polyphenylene ether (mPPE) developed for application in solar panel components. These resin solutions have 5 VA and V-0 certifications of UL. Leona LG PA66 and PA 66/6I family of resins with long glass fibers are suitable for applications requiring high performance. The materials have an outstanding impact strength and better fatigue and creep resistance. They have a modulus higher than 20 GPa.
Asahi Kasei Plastics’ Thermylene P9 is a family of short glass fiber polypropylene which is used as an alternative to Nylon. The resin has various applications, including air intake manifolds and various other automotive components. It has a greater resistance to temperature and helps to minimize weight by 15% or more.
Thermylene P4 is a non-decabrome based polypropylene that has UL’s yellow card certifications. Mineral filled, talc filled, glass filled and unfilled grades are available. Thermylene P8 glass reinforced resin grade offered by Asahi Kasei Plastics finds applications in shifter bases, sunroof frames, motor housings, door modules and others. It is an ideal substitute for long glass fiber polypropylene. Tenac Z-Series of low formaldehyde emission acetal resin solutions has surpassed the global OEM standards for volatile organic compound emissions.
