Eastman Chemical, a provider of chemicals, plastics and fibers, has signed a licensing agreement with Balcas, a wood products supplier in Britain and Ireland.
Based on the agreement, Balcas will be offered exclusive rights to use Eastman Cerfis coating technology to manufacture mouldings and trims.
Eastman’s technology can be utilized with a wide range of coatings and substrates. The technology is more durable, provides a high-quality surface, maintains a reliable geometry and offers dimensional stability. In addition, it provides decreased twists and warps and is moisture resistant. Eastman Cerfis solution is free from volatile organic compounds (VOC). It is easy to use when compared to traditional molding products and it offers cleaner installation processes for residential builders and DIYers.
Director of Polymers Innovations Division, Eastman, Jim Mercer, stated that the collaboration represents the growth of Eastman in the buildings products segment in the U.S. and overseas. He also added that there are many leading retail and other companies ready to offer the technology in the UK and Europe. Balcas reports that its customers are showing great interest in Eastman’s technology.
Balcas has been investigating the European MDF moulding industry for approximately 25 years and have finally found Eastman Cerfis technology as the best solution. Balcas Kildare’s director, David Gill, noted that the product is suitable for installations in Europe.
