At MD&M West medical OEM event, SABIC has showcased its wide customization capabilities for antimicrobial compounds to help medical device manufacturers increase the safety of their healthcare products, including high-quality base resin materials with antimicrobial additives.
The company’s capabilities can be utilized to produce antimicrobial solutions for durable medical equipment, imaging and monitoring devices, surgical instruments and drug delivery applications.
The company continuously invests in product technologies, solutions and services to help medical device OEMs succeed in the dynamic healthcare environment. A mix of third-party base resins with concentrates leads to inconsistent performance. However, SABIC carries out custom compounding process using high-performance resins and additives to produce technologies that meet customer requirements like strength and duration of antimicrobial properties. In addition, the company’s capability in effects and colors enables accurate control over clarity. SABIC’s custom compounding offers various benefits, including less manufacturing waste and uniform additive distribution for superior performance.
In addition, the company will exhibit its LNP series of high-performance resin compounds used for medical device applications at the event. The series offers several benefits associated with clinician and patient safety ranging from X-ray protection to static dissipation in the existence of oxygen. LNP Thermocomp HSG compound is used to shield patients and clinicians against radiation and electromagnetic or radio-frequency interference. LNP Lubriloy and Lubricomp compounds from SABIC reduce slip or stick of surgical devices resulting due to friction and wear. Another product in the LNP series, LNP Stat-Kon compound adds base resins along with reinforcing agents or electrically conductive fillers to create dissipative and conductive materials. The resin helps to shield medical devices and parts from fire hazards. LNP Stat-Loy compound offers lasting anti-static properties and it ensures consistent drug delivery.
