NewAge Industries, a manufacturer and fabricator of thermoplastic and thermoset tubing in reinforced and unreinforced styles, was able to stock up nylon-12 tubing at a time when there was limited supply of tubing raw materials and global demand surpassed inventories.
The company has worked efficiently with its partners to acquire raw materials and produce tubing products.
The shortage of supply resulted due to several reasons. The first reason is that nylon-12 materials are petroleum-based. In recent years, supply, demand and prices of oil have been unpredictable, which has affected production of different types of plastic. Hence, raw material costs for fluoropolymer, polyethylene, PVC and nylon have increased. The second reason is that nylon is used as a solar panel component and the solar energy sector has taken charge on supply levels. Another reason for shortage of nylon-12 supply is that the material is used for fiber optic cable jacketing and hence, the growing number of cabling projects has affected raw material supplies. Though few of these issues have been minimized, several nylon-12 tubing suppliers still have difficulty in acquiring raw materials.
Nylotube, a nylon-12 tubing offered by NewAge, is light weight and possesses chemical, abrasion and corrosion resistance properties. It provides lower moisture absorption and exceptional bend radii and pressure ranges. Nylotube is ideal for pneumatics and various fluid transfer applications and is also suitable for retractable coils as the tubing resists repeat flexing. The product is available in semi-rigid and flexible grades.
