The formulated concentrates from Cray Valley include the new SMA 9000 series of pellet masterbatches, which are optimized to enhance the performance of polyamide.
These concentrates are suitable for compounding and extrusing and are specifically designed to develop the melt strength of post-industrial, post-consumer and virgin polyamides. They act as dispersants for contaminants and compatibilizers for blends and enhance end product’s mechanical performance.
The company developed the SMA 9001 concentrates in order to alter the clean recycle polyamide streams and expose the compatibility or melt strength in polymer blend formulations. The SMA 9002 has transformed and compatibilized the dirty recycle streams by mending damage and reinstating the polyamides’ melt strength, wherein greater than 10% of calcium carbonate, polypropylene or other materials are present as impurities. This has enabled processors to utilize recycled material in high proportion to decreasing the usage of virgin resin, without affecting the end product’s properties.
These pellets are easier to handle when compared to normal powders. The SMA 9000 uniformly blends with the resin and homogenously diffuses in the extrusion method.
Cray Valley will showcase the SMA 9000 series of concentrates at the 2012 National Plastics Exposition (NPE), which will be held from 2 to 5 April, 2012 in Orlando. It will also display the product at the Chinaplas 2012 trade fair in Shanghai, which will be held from 18 to 20 April, 2012.
