Targray Technology, a global supplier of silicon and advanced materials to the solar industry, has expanded its portfolio of photovoltaic (PV) materials and solutions with the addition of a new line of aluminum paste for silicon solar cells.
The aluminum paste meets several requirements of the industry, including better adhesion, hot water test, greater peak firing temperatures and higher efficiency.
Patrick Boutard, Targray’s PV Product Manager, stated that mono and multi-crystalline silicon solar cell manufacturers are seeking low bowing aluminum pastes to save costs and shift to very thin silicon wafers. The manufacturers are under continuous pressure to increase cell efficiency in order to decrease the cost per watt. Targray’s new generation pastes have satisfied this need and their clients have reported an improvement in efficiency, ranging from 0.05% to 0.1%, remarked Boutard.
A rear aluminum paste needs to offer an exceptional back surface field to achieve high cell efficiency. In addition, it must have high printability and superior adhesion features to withstand environmental stress. Compatibility with a wide range of silicon wafers is another essential property of a paste. The material must also be compatible with several front and back silver pastes for better performance in a wide process window. The new line of 136 aluminum paste from Targray meets all the above requirements. In addition to supplying solar materials, the company also helps PV manufactures to maximize quality and reliability of solar cells and modules and to minimize their cost per watt.
