At the JEC 2012 Composites Show, which is to be held in Paris from March 27 to 29, Momentive Specialty Chemicals will exhibit its four innovative products for wind turbine rotor blades.
The products are EPIKOTE MGS BPR 435 bonding paste, EPIKOTE MGS RIMR 9000 epoxy tooling system, EPIKOTE MGS RIMR 155 resin system and EPIKOTE MGS RIMR 145 epoxy resin infusion system.
EPIKOTE MGS BPR 435 is a highly durable, lighter and stronger adhesive that is ideal for wind turbine rotor blade application. The material enables efficient manufacturing and usage of very large rotor blades in less accessible areas such as offshore. EPIKOTE MGS BPR 435 has lower density, which decreases the cost and weight of the rotor blades. In addition, the faster cure rate and enhanced rheology minimizes the turbine blade cycle time. EPIKOTE MGS RIMR 9000 epoxy system has low viscosity and a longer pot life. A mold produced using the system has a greater glass transition temperature.
Momentive Specialty Chemicals’ low-exothermic resin system, EPIKOTE MGS RIMR 155, has been developed to control heat generated in a composite material during the infusion of thicker structures. The product offers enhanced mechanical performance, accurate curing and rapid turnaround. EPIKOTE MGS RIMR 145 is a low exothermic epoxy resin infusion system that is used to produce lighter and stronger carbon fiber reinforced components in an easy and cost-effective manner. It maintains low viscosity for a longer time and can be utilized along with glass fibers. The system enables manufactures to exclude the prepreg processing, which is time consuming.
