Myriant Partners with DaniMer to Develop New Bio-Based Materials

Myriant has made a strategic collaboration with DaniMer Scientific to supply new bio-based materials.

Under this collaboration, DaniMer will use the bio-succinic acid from Myriant for manufacturing of bio-based polymers that are utilized to create various eco-friendly and sustainable products.

DaniMer Scientific’s President, Blake Lindsey stated that the company expects that the green chemistry can influence the lives of people and the environment, and materials made using renewable sources have significant potential in the market. Renewable resources can enable product manufacturing at reasonable rates. He added that DaniMer is delighted to collaborate with Myriant and this alliance can bring new and value-added products to the international market.

The market for green chemicals is projected to undergo a major growth in the future that is partially driven by consumers’ need for ecological products and enhanced accessibility to renewable feedstocks.

A report released in 2011 by Pike Research stated that the green chemistry will grow at around $98 billion by 2020. DaniMer helps companies to make a positive impact on customers through renewable and sustainably produced resource-based materials to distinguish their products.

DaniMer has worked closely with Myriant and has shown the process of material manufacturing containing bio-succinic acid at the product development center in Bainbridge, Georgia. DaniMer is building a large-scale production plant, which will integrate bio-succinic acid from Myriant into the production methods for various bio-based polymers that are utilized in the manufacture of several consumer products.
