General Plastics Manufacturing, a plastics innovation company, has signed a distribution agreement with Aerontec, a wholesale distributor of resins and foams for the composite industry.
Under the terms of the agreement, Aerontec will serve as a distributor of General Plastics’ LAST-A-FOAM high-density polyurethane foam tooling and modeling product lines in South Africa and neighboring regions. The product lines include FR-7100, FR-4700 and FR-4500.
LAST-A-FOAM FR-4500 is a series of high-density polyurethane substrates that are ideal for creating mold and foundry patterns and master models. It is also suitable for composite tooling applications, where a uniform, dimensionally stable and machineable material is required. Another product in the LAST-A-FOAM family, FR-4700 is a rigid hybrid polyurethane foam used for various applications, including tool proofing, vacuum-form tooling, prepreg composite layup tooling, prototype machining and master model and pattern making. This tooling board can withstand temperatures of about 200°C. The FR-7100 polyurethane foam tooling board can be used as a composite core in various applications. It delivers a superior, consistent cell structure, which can be easily coated using any material.
Bruce Lind, President of General Plastics, remarked that Aerontec has been chosen, as they have better understanding of the composite marketplace, as well as the competitive products distributed in South Africa. The distribution alliance will speed up the delivery of General Plastics’ products to clients in the region and will also decrease shipping costs. Aerontec will help customers to select and use the right LAST-A-FOAM products depending on their application.
