Gurit, a developer and manufacturer of advanced composites, has announced that it has agreed with an existing customer that it will continue to provide the prepreg materials for all Airbus aircraft types for 2012 and 2013.
This supply agreement signifies up to CHF 20 million of business volume for this period. The agreement is not a part of the present framework contract with the EADS Group. Gurit will offer materials for all planes of Airbus through a main cabin provider. The Airbus planes include Airbus A380, the largest passenger airplane in the globe, and Airbus A350, the wide-body model. Airbus A350 may be commercialized in 2015. The company will provide pre-impregnated composite materials, which was manufactured in the company’s factories located in Germany and Switzerland.
According to the terms of the renewed agreement, the materials from Gurit will be utilized in the manufacturing of side-walls, cabin ceilings and of airducts for naming the main applications.
