Teijin has planned to start Teijin Product Development China in August 2012, in order to carry out research and development (R&D) for fiber and textile products in Nantong, located in Jiangsu Province.
This R&D program will commence during April 2013. The R&D functions of the company will be improved by this new establishment, which will also enable joint development together with local partners in order to quickly react to the business opportunities in this growing market.
The establishment of the new company, Teijin Product Development China will be at the Natong Teijin premises. Natong Teijin is involved in manufacturing, dying, processing and delivering the polyester textiles. This new firm partnering with local fiber producers will primarily develop fibers and textiles for apparel. The company will later pursue the applications for the environmental, electronics and automotive fields.
The growth plans of Teijin group give high priority to China market. The objective of the group is to extend the business in China, by means of strategic partnerships with local partners, extension of R&D bases and production and expansion of businesses associated with environment. During March 2012, the company and the China Chemical Fibers Association CCFA inked a comprehensive partnership in order to carry out business opportunities in the industries related to chemical fibers and others.
According to Teijin Group’s executive officer, Toshihide Fukushima, the new company establishment will enable Teijin to respond quickly to various demands in the market in China. Teijin is confident that its fiber-related technology solutions will support the advanced products expansion, which contributes to value-addition and differentiates the local chemical fiber industry, he stated.
