Dow Corning announced that its XIAMETER brand has added XIAMETER PMX-1502 silicone fluid to its line of silicone-based hair care materials. The expansion of the silicone-based range helps to meet the increasing demand for hair care products.
The PMX-1502 fluid is a mixture of approximately 25% of a vey high viscosity dimethiconol gum, hydrocarbon and polydimethylsiloxane carrier fluids with low molecular weight. When XIAMETER PMX-1502 is added in anhydrous hair serums, the material offers exceptional shine and luster and formulation flexibility. Similarly, when used in aqueous conditioner formulations, the silicone fluid provides intensive conditioning and increased frizz control.
The manager of XIAMETER brand global market, Kevin Murphy, stated that the challenge that they are focusing on is to meet the growing individual needs depending on specific hair style, condition and type. Murphy added that silicones have set the required standard for sensory and conditioning properties in hair care solutions such as colorants, treatments and conditioners for several decades. In addition, they prevent discoloration after color treatments, offer protection from heat and improve the strength of hair. Thus, the silicone materials can enhance the healthy look of hair.
Approximately 60% of hair care products that are unveiled worldwide are made of at least a single silicone ingredient, quoted Mintel, a market researcher. Hair care formulators now have a Dow Corning and XIAMETER brand hair care selector guide to identify the products they require.
