Uhde India, a subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp Uhde, announced that it has completed Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB-2) expansion project for Farabi Petrochemicals, a producer of LAB, N-Paraffin, heavy and light white oil, in Saudi Arabia.Earlier in April 2012, the project went online after satisfactory performance.
The scope of services of the company includes project management, engineering, procurement, inspection and pre-commissioning services. Foster Wheeler served as the project management consultant for the LAB-2 project and UPO, based in the U.S., delivered the required technology for the project. The LAB-2 projectmet quality engineering and projectexecution standards, while addressing the pre-commissioning and commissioning plans and safety regulations.
Uhde India is a consultant for LAB facilities across the world and has established the grassroots plant for LAB and N-Paraffin in 2006. The current project represents the company’s another successful partnership with Farabi Petrochemicals, Middle East customer of Uhde India, and UOP, a provider of advanced technology. In addition, the project accounted 3.5 million safe man hours with no lost time accident (LTA). The initiative positions Farabi Petrochemicals as a major linear alkyl benzene manufacturer globally.
Uhde India mainly focuses on the detailed engineering and construction of chemical and various other industrialfacilities in a wide range of sectors, including synthetic fibers, polymers, organic intermediates, refining technologies, residue, coal and oil gasification, gas technologies, electrolysis, fertilizers and high-pressure technologies.
