Air Products has released several new solvent-free and waterborne epoxy curing agents and new polycarbamide technology and isocynate curing agents, for a number of coating applications at the American Coatings Show 2012 in Indianapolis. These epoxy curing agents provide enhanced handling and performance.
The company specially engineered Amicure IC-321 and Amicure IC-221 curatives, which are fresh amine curing agents. These curatives can be used together with HDI trimer isocyanates in order to produce aliphatic polyurea or polycarbamide coatings specifically designed for use in institutional and industrial flooring coatings.
Both curatives can be applied through roll, brush or airless spray device and are specially designed so as to provide an adequate working time. Zero VOC, excellent UV durability, low temperature cure, surface appearance and low color are the curatives’ performance features.
Amicure IC-321 and IC-221 curatives provide quick hardness development. The company’s new cycloaliphatic amine epoxy curing agents include Ancamine 2735 and Ancamine 2726 curatives, which offer cost benefits and performance for use in protective coatings and industrial flooring.
The company has specifically designed Anquamine 721 waterborne epoxy curing agent for waterborne epoxy coatings. This curing agent provides traditional solvent formulations together with low to zero VOC.
According to the Commercial Manager for Air Products, Bruce Thoet, the company has continuously supplied new, solutions-based products for use in the coatings industry. Performance and cost benefits can be offered by these new curing agents to several high-growth markets, Bruce stated.
