Specialty packaging manufacturer, AGI-Shorewood’s packaging solutions printing facility located in Toronto has become the first-of-its-kind plant to achieve the PANTONE Certified Printer status.
Global color authority Pantone, which provides professional color standards for design industries, launched the PANTONE Certified Printer Program in 2011 to ensure partaking offset printers fulfill the company’s rigorous color quality and consistency specifications. The patent-pending program yearly audits, monitors, studies and qualifies all operations from intake to ink mixing, print manufacturing, and customer handling, and helps print buyers, brand managers, and designers to select the right print provider and to get precise print color reproduction, reliable results, and timely and professional service.
AGI-Shorewood’s Manager of Innovation and New Product Development, Greg Chup stated that top brands spend huge amount in consumer research to achieve maximum impact from their packaging design but they fail at retail due to visual mismatch at the point of sale. The company together with Pantone has been involved in the development of a solution that ensures same look to every packaging.
Through this PANTONE Certified Printer status, AGI-Shorewood can now influence the purchase at the point of sale in a retail environment. Pantone's National Sales Manager, Matthew McDowell stated that the company is happy about the participation of AGI-Shorewood in PANTONE certification.
AGI-Shorewood intends to deploy the PANTONE Certified Printer program in its other lithographic facilities located across the world. The company’s facility in Aguascalientes, Mexico, is the next on the card, followed by its facilities in Indianapolis, Indiana, and Hendersonville, North Carolina.
