An international supplier of high-performance plastic compounds and resins, A. Schulman, has planned to showcase its latest plastic product innovations at the Plast 2012 exhibition, which will be held in Milan, Italy from May 8 to 12.
A team led by Maurizio Moretto, Managing Director of the company, will exhibit innovations in engineered plastics, masterbatch and distribution and unique specialty powders developed by ICO Polymers division of A. Schulman.
In 2011, the company made announcement about optimizing its ICO Polymers’ European facilities to enhance its efficiency and technology capabilities. A. Schulman has relocated its specialty powders plant in Verolanuova, Italy to its renovated plant in Gorla, Italy. In addition, the company has made investments in a cryogenic milling line and two compounding lines.
The upgraded plant in Gorla comprises an advanced Leistritz twin screw compounding line and euro 3 million worth powder production lines. These advancements will enable the company to offer the latest specialty powder solutionsand provide support to its customers, stated Heinrich Lingnau, Specialty Powders’ Business Unit Leader. In addition, they will reinforce A. Schulman’s leadership position in the development of innovative technology to meet the varying market needs, added Lingnau.
Bernard Rzepka, GM and COO of A. Schulman, EMEA, remarked that new investments in their European facilities will increase the company’s productivity and also allow them to better serve their customers. As the production of masterbatches needs ICO specialty powders, the optimization and reorganization of the ICO manufacturing capabilities in Gorla will lead to higher efficiency and faster response times.
