Bredero Shaw, ShawCor’s pipecoating division, has been awarded a contract worth more than US$45 million to provide pipeline coatings and associated services and products for the Julimar Development Project. The company signed the contract with Apache in Australia.
The Julimar Development Project, operated by Apache, is a joint venture of Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company – KUFPEC and Apache. KUFPEC holds 35% and Apache holds 65% in the joint venture. The project will provide raw gas from Brunello and Julimar gas fields to the Wheatstone Project, operated by Chevron, in Western Australia. Apache holds 13% and KUFPEC holds 7% in the Wheatstone Project, which will comprise LNG export facilities and domestic gas processing facilities.
Based on the contract, Bredero Shaw will supply pipe coating solutions for 47 km of 18” pipeline that will be protected with different configurations of three-fold polypropylene anticorrosion coating, HeviCote concrete weight coating and Thermotite five-layer polypropylene insulation.
Furthermore, Bredero Shaw has also signed a deal for anode acquirement and installation. The company will start the work in the Q2 of 2013. The work will be carried out at the facility of Bredero Shaw in Kuantan, Malaysia. The Kuantan facility, a full service, technology-based coating plant, was constructed to process large and sophisticated projects in the Asia Pacific.
Bredero Shaw, which provides pipe coating solutions, employs roughly 4,000 permanent as well as contract personnel at its facilities in 15 countries. It supplies specialized coating systems and associated services for corrosion protection, insulation systems for deepwater applications and weight coating and insulation applications on marine and land pipelines.
