Henkel, a marketer of a wide range of recognized consumer and industrial brands in North America, is offering Loctite Liquid Optically Clear Adhesives (LOCAs) for applications in touch panel and display devices, including outdoor signage, televisions, monitors, tablets and mobile phones. These materials enable thinner device designs, decrease power consumption, extend product life, enhance display durability, and improve the viewing experience.
When Loctite LOCAs are used on AR glass, they amplify the contrast ratio in light by 400% and reduce the refractive index mismatch to PMMA and glass. Thus, they minimize light loss that occurs due to reflection. The reduced loss means the device consumes less power and the user enjoys a better viewing experience. The displays using the adhesives can withstand greater heat and humidity as well as temperature cycling. In addition, the Loctite LOCAs enable the production of thinner touch panels, as they have the ability to absorb impact load and shield gap-free display surfaces. Henkel’s Loctite LOCA materials considerably increase display robustness. For instance, they can boost ball-drop impact resistance to a maximum of 300% for gaps up to 1 mm.
Henkel’s Loctite LOCA line includes seven products: Loctite 5192 high-temperature resistant, non-yellowing UV/moisture cure silicone; Loctite 3192 general-purpose UV/heat cure acrylic; Loctite 3196 impact-absorbent UV acrylic; Loctite 3195 general-purpose adhesive; Loctite 3195DM high viscosity dam material; Loctite 5192 UV/moisture cure silicone; and Loctite 5192DM high viscosity silicone dam material.
Loctite LOCA products offer excellent reliability and adhesion than optically clear double-sided tape materials. They are compatible with several touch panel and display sizes and can be applied and cured by utilizing automated processing tools with small surface preparation.
