Air Products, a liquefied natural gas (LNG) technology and equipment company, has declared that it will be expanding its LNG heat exchanger manufacturing capacity by building a second manufacturing facility at a new location in Florida-based Manatee County.
Since this new location is close to port services, global shipping of this huge equipment will be enabled and Air Products will be able to manufacture very huge LNG heat exchangers as demanded by the market.
The LNG Manufacturing facility spans 300,000 sq. ft. and around 250 employees will be employed in a four-year ramp-up period. The facility is estimated to be completed and become functional by late 2013.
For more than 45 years, Air Products has been involved in the manufacture of LNG heat exchangers that are 16.5 ft in diameter, 180 ft in length and weigh around 500 t at its presently functional Pennysylvania facility. The 100th coil wound heat exchanger manufactured at that facility was shipped recently.
Most of the LNG produced globally is done using Air Products technology. Air Products has presently manufactured, designed and exported 100 coil-wound heat exchangers globally for over 40 years. Air Products assists the LNG sector by providing important equipment and process technology for mid-sized and small LNG plants, LNG peak shavers and floating LNG plants.
Downstream, Air Products offers dry inert gas generators for shipboard membrane nitrogen systems, LNG carriers and land-based cryogenic and land-based nitrogen systems for lNG import terminals.
