Smithers Rapra, in collaboration with program advisors from Dow Corning, Momentive Performance Materials, Shin-Etsu Silicones of America, Nolato, Starlim North America Corporation, and the University of Cincinnati, are pleased to announce the full release of the Silicone Elastomers Americas 2012 agenda.
This is the 2nd Silicone Elastomers event to be held in the US and our 7th annual worldwide. The gathering of global silicone elastomer professionals will be held September 20-21 at the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio.
"While the traditional elastomers industry appears to be pretty conservative, silicone elastomers continue to drive innovation in designs as well as in material properties adding new benefits. Comparing current technology adoption in North America with Western Europe, we believe that there is still a certain gap to fill.
Smithers Rapra successfully recruited a lot of new speakers, many of them from overseas, talking about their individual and ongoing contributions to new applications in Silicones," says Oliver Franssen, Global Marketing Director Elastomers Transportation, Momentive Performance Materials GmbH, a speaker and advisor to Silicone Elastomers Americas 2012 this September, "Given the broadness of this speaker panel, an engineer could even come to Cincinnati with a new product idea or drawing and leave for the weekend with a complete manufacturing concept and budget quote - an excellent spot to learn and network in a truly international silicones event."
Over 20 speakers from across the world will present to grant a truly global perspective of the industry to attendees. In combination with many new speakers, Silicone Elastomers Americas 2012 attendees will hear from the Silicones Environmental Health and Safety Council of North America, Evonik Degussa Corporation, GSDI, ENGEL, 2KM GmbH, Elmet Austria, Roembk Manufacturing & Design Inc., Specialty Silicone Fabricators, MED/Limtech, Bluestar Silicones North America, ARBURG, Inc., Rico Elastomer Projecting GmbH, Doss Visual Solution S.r.l., DataDot Technology Ltd, and The Institute of Plastics Processing (IKV) at RWTH at Aachen University.
"This is the only niche gathering this fall designed to allow industrial and academic research staff and the customer users of silicone elastomers to collaborate, network, and share ideas," says Andrew Smaha, conference director for Smithers Rapra. "Our six talented advisors have identified the most topical innovations and advancements: market growth, automotive applications, additives for HCR and LSR, high performance stability, metering-and-mixing systems, novel injection unit designs, measurement, D24 & D25 regulations, UV vulcanization, extrusion tolerancing, 2-component molding, pharma requirements, and taggant technology, and secured the senior-most experts available worldwide to delve deep into the real-world issues facing all players across the silicone elastomer industry. We have done so in a way that is authentic and relatable to what our attendees will face at the office, in the lab and out in the marketplace as soon as the event is over."
