FKuR Kunststoff, a provider of bioplastic compounds for use in technical products and flexible packaging solutions, will showcase a wide range of bio-based, biodegradable, and natural fiber reinforced plastics at the Fakuma 2012, which will be conducted from October 16 to 20, 2012, in Friedrichshafen.
FKuR Kunststoff will display these bioplastics under the slogan ‘Fascinated by nature – applied to plastics!.’ The company will for the first time present ‘Green PE’ at the Fakuma. As the exclusive distributor of Braskem, FKuR will supply Green PE in the European market. Moreover, it will exhibit optimized Green PE-based compounds for injection molding under the brand name, Terralene.
Unlike conventional polyethylene which is made from crude oil, Braskem’s Green PE uses the polyethylene made from Brazilian sugarcane, a renewable raw material. The use of Brazilian sugarcane eliminates 2.4 tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere for every ton of Green PE produced, thus considerably decreasing greenhouse gas emissions. Moreover, both Terralene and Green PE are fully compatible with standard polyethylene and demonstrate identical properties. It is possible to use all these materials in current recycling streams.
FKuR will also display the renowned biodegradable product lines, namely Biograde for injection molding applications and Bio-Flex for flexible applications. Biograde C 6509 CL, a cellulose-based material, is the latest addition to this portfolio and has superior flexibility, good coloring and high transparency. Besides demonstrating biodegradability, this kind of material provides a soft and shiny surface, making them suitable for use in cosmetic packaging.
