PSI has received a major follow-up order to deliver a warehouse management and crane coordinate system for ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe’s Heavy Plate Unit located in Duisburg-South.
Built on the latest system version, the novel warehouse management system improves the functionality of the current PSImetals solution to add more areas of production. The project is anticipated to run for just more than a year.
After the successful deployment of the system for shipment and finishing, a warehouse management system will facilitate higher level of transparency in the tracking and control of materials in the largest production area comprising slitting and shearing lines, quenching and tempering lines, and ultrasonic testing. The maximum utilization of existing resources such as warehouse space, equipment and transport devices will result in the significant improvement in delivery performance.
ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe’s long-term objective is to implement a standardized warehouse management system to perform effective monitoring and control of logistics at all 11 production halls in its Duisburg-South heavy plate production facility. The last stage of planning comprises the integration of the production area for hot-rolled sheets in addition to producing, coating and delivering these plates.
PSI, established in 1969, designs and integrates comprehensive solutions based on its own software products for production management for logistics, mining, mechanical engineering, automotive and metals; energy management for heat, oil, gas and electricity; and infrastructure management for safety and transportation. It has over 1,500 employees all over the world.
