New Opportunities for Graphic Paper and Packaging Industry

The market for graphic paper and packaging industry has opened up. This is mainly attributed to the increasing pressure from consumers for alternative solution to plastic packaging, rise in petrochemical costs and stringent government regulations governing the use of plastic packaging.

A new report by RISI, the leading provider of information on the global forest products industry, titled “Specialty Packaging Papers Special Market Analysis Study” highlights the opportunities available for the paper based specialty packaging industry and the market dynamics.

The demand for alternatives to plastic packaging has created new investment and growth avenues for the paper packaging industry. According to Michael Jones, Director of Packaging - Mill Intelligence at RISI, the growth opportunities are not restricted to existing manufacturers of packaging grade paper but also extend to manufacturers of graphic paper.

The graphic paper manufacturing industry has witnessed a downward trend in growth owing to decline in demand for printing and writing grades of graphic paper. But the new vistas opened up in packaging give them an opportunity to establish new streams of revenue and enhance their machine utilization rates.

The report presents a comprehensive analysis of the specialty paper packaging market and provides market forecast upto the year 2015. The challenges and opportunities that new entrants to this industry will face are also included in the report. A list of processes and equipment necessary to operate within this industry is provided in the report. The trends in global trade, profiles of distributors and major producers are also included.
