3M has launched the 3M Laminating Bulker that imparts remarkable characteristics to fiberglass constructions. The product features exemplary capabilities in print blocking and consumes lesser resin while exhibiting high degree of conformability on compound curves. There are homogeneous holes incorporated into the 3M Laminating Bulker to facilitate proper resin flow.
The non-woven mat of polyester is available in rolls that are 1 and 2 m wide and is also offered in varying thickness of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 mm.
The Laminating Bulker allows irrigation preferred by the fabricator so that the air is allowed to escape while the resin is accepted. Enhanced vertical link creation and improved wetout is facilitated by the material as it incorporates more frequent perforations in comparison to competitor products. This is due to the easy evacuation of trapped air bubbles enabled by the perforations.
Pre-wetting sans tearing or damage is possible due to the multi-leave binder of the material. The multi-directional orientation of the fibers while synthesizing the 3M Laminating Bulker helps it impart equal strength along the length and width. The same feature helps in laminate wetting uniformly in both directions. Tests demonstrate the 3M Laminating Bulker to provide shock resistance that is 35 to 50% higher than that offered by competitor products. This gives products using the material a longer life cycle. The strength of the links between various layers in the mat as well as the homogenous distribution of resin throughout the mat result in enhanced shear and impact strength for the laminates.
