A Dow Corning leader with expertise in the company’s Specialty Chemicals Business – specifically, High Performance Building Solutions and related sealants – along with expertise in the development of international standards will be the keynote speaker at an upcoming conference for adhesive and sealant industry professionals.
Kenneth Yarosh, global service line manager for Dow Corning’s Specialty Chemicals Business, will be the keynote speaker at the Adhesive and Sealant Council’s 2012 Adhesive & Sealant Convention Fall Conference and Expo, scheduled for October 21 through 23 at the Louisville Downtown Marriott in Louisville, Ky., USA. Yarosh will present “Sealants and Standards: A Long History in the Making” from noon to 1:15 p.m. Oct. 23.
The keynote topic is a natural fit for Yarosh, who is chairman of the board of ASTM International and chairman of the organization’s Committee C24 on Building Seals and Sealants. At Dow Corning, his nearly three decades of work have included technical service and technical leadership roles in support of the company’s High Performance Building Solutions and sealants business in North America and Europe.
“It’s hard to imagine a world without standards. What would be the impact on global commerce, innovation, health and safety?” Yarosh said. “Although standards are often overlooked, they set the baseline and rules by which we can all play fairly.”
In his ASC keynote, Yarosh will discuss why standards are important, how standards impact the adhesive and sealant industry, the role of ASTM International and other standards development organizations, how associations and standards development organizations can partner to face industry challenges, and why adhesives and sealants professionals should participate in the creation and implementation of standards.
