Innovative water-based formulation combines two proven products for a single, easy-to-use solution for granite cutting blade lubrication.
Cutting hard granite stone blocks is demanding on processing equipment. Cutting blades must be continuously lubricated and cooled, creating maintenance and productivity challenges.
Dow Corning’s Granite Cutting Aid provides excellent lubrication, without staining or having any impact on the granite grain pattern.
“Unlike conventional lubricants, such as greases, oils and kerosene, this water-based cutting aid forms a fine film on the blade that prevents sludge and deposits from sticking,” said Praveen Malhotra, Marketing Manager – Performance Chemicals, India. “This enables smooth cutting and deeper cutting strokes, which leads to improved productivity.”
A two-component solution, Dow Corning’s Granite Cutting Aid is composed of Dow Corning® HV 495 Emulsion and Dow Corning® 67 Additive. Sold separately and mixed on-site at raw granite cutting operations, the formulation can be optimized for site-specific challenges.
“Granite cutting operators will appreciate the reduced maintenance requirements of our Granite Cutting Aid,” said Malhotra. “Conventional lubricants, tend to settle at the bottom of the tanks, causing the slurry to form masses and hard deposits that are difficult to remove and cause maintenance issues. Granite Cutting Aid from Dow Corning leaves only an easily removed soft sediment that settles on the tank bottom.”
