SABIC’s Innovative Plastics business today announced that it will be a first-time exhibitor at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC) and Exposition and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (NFOEC), March 19-21, 2013 at the Anaheim Convention Center, in Anaheim, Calif.
SABIC’s presence at OFC/NFOEC reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to materials innovation for its customers in the fiber optics industry.
At booth #2356, SABIC will be showcasing its ULTEM™ and EXTEM™ resins, which represent potential alternatives to save cost and improve performance when compared to glass and other materials commonly used in fiber optic connectors, housings, and lenses in high heat environments. SABIC representatives will be providing spectrophotometer demonstrations, including the attenuation control and proprietary infrared black capabilities of its high performance engineering thermoplastics – a key feature of which is the ability to block visible light but transmit infrared light. In addition, technical resources will be on hand to discuss the other possible advantages of its materials for use in fiber optic applications.
“We chose to exhibit at OFC/NFOEC because it is the largest global conference and exposition for optical communications and networking professionals, representing an ideal opportunity to engage with our customers,” said David Wildgoose, general manager, engineering resins, Innovative Plastics. “In addition, this event provides a venue to update the industry on the unique performance properties of SABIC materials that can help fiber optic engineers consolidate parts, eliminate secondary operations and improve the performance of their devices.”
