Intel Presents Preferred Quality Supplier Award to Applied Materials

Applied Materials, Inc. has been recognized as one of 17 companies receiving Intel Corporation's Preferred Quality Supplier (PQS) award for their performance in 2012. Applied Materials is recognized for its significant contributions providing Intel with semiconductor equipment, software and support services deemed essential to Intel's success.

"We deeply value our broadening supplier partnership with Intel and it is a great honor to receive Intel's Preferred Quality Supplier award for the third consecutive year," said Dr. Randhir Thakur, executive vice president and general manager of the Silicon Systems Group at Applied Materials. "Our whole team has contributed to the strides we've made in discipline and responsiveness as we strive to meet Intel's high standards for product quality and performance."

"We would like to congratulate Applied Materials for winning Intel's 2012 Preferred Quality Supplier award, one of our highest levels of supplier achievement recognition," said Sandra J. Viarengo, Director of Intel's Fab Equipment Development group. "Applied Materials continued to provide superior performance and support to our ramping factories while enabling leading edge technology development with equipment and services across Intel's broad manufacturing spectrum. This is Applied's third consecutive PQS win and its fourth overall. We thank Applied Materials for its contributions and their continued leadership and collaboration supporting future Intel technologies."

The PQS award is part of Intel's Supplier Continuous Quality Improvement (SCQI) program that encourages suppliers to strive for excellence and continuous improvement. To qualify for PQS status, suppliers must score 80 percent on a report card that assesses performance and ability to meet cost, quality, availability, technology, environmental, social and governance goals. Suppliers must also achieve 80 percent or greater on a challenging improvement plan and demonstrate solid quality and business systems. Additional information about the SCQI program is available at http://intel.com/go/quality.

A celebration to honor PQS award winners was held in San Jose. In addition, there was an announcement on Intel's website at http://intel.com.
