Momentive Specialty Chemicals Inc. (“MSC” or the “Company”) captured the top occupational safety award from the Tampa Area Safety Council’s Occupational Safety organization. The award, presented last month, recognized MSC’s Lakeland, Florida, area facility for its leadership, culture and outstanding safety record.
“Safety is paramount at Momentive Specialty Chemicals and our team in Lakeland has taken that culture to heart,” said Jody Bevilaqua, President, Epoxy, Phenolic Resin and Coatings Resins Division. “We appreciate the Council’s recognition of the hard work and safety performance delivered by our Lakeland facility associates.”
More than 300 manufacturing, government and area businesses in the metropolitan Tampa and surrounding areas competed for this award. It is based on proven and improved safety performance year over year, workforce programs and the review of data supplied to the Tampa Area Safety Council.
“We are very proud that our site in Lakeland received this recognition for their exemplary performance in reducing occupational illness and injury,” said Karen Koster, Executive Vice President, Environmental Health and Safety. “We continue to build upon successes like these and share best practices so that all of our manufacturing facilities reach the highest levels of safety performance.”
“The Lakeland site traces its roots to 1965 and we’ve been pleased to be a long-time member of the Lakeland community,” said Bill Devore, Site Environmental Health and Safety Leader. “Our associates are committed to operating our plant safely and to running our business in a manner that reduces our environmental impact.”
