Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton today announced the launch of a new line of type CH and BR circuit breaker surge protective devices (SPD), which enhance Eaton’s comprehensive line of complete home surge protection.
With a variety of solutions, Eaton’s line of residential power distribution and circuit protection equipment includes load centers, surge load centers, renovation load centers, wiring devices and circuit breakers that ensure safe, reliable energy management in the home.
The CH and BR SPD are ideal for applications where there is a high risk of lightning strikes or poor power quality. With a direct bus mount to allow for superior protection and improved response time over traditional wire-in SPD installations, they are also well suited for homes with technologically advanced electronic equipment and appliances. The direct bus mount reduces the potential for incorrect installation, which is a risk of externally mounted surge devices.
“Eaton is dedicated to expanding the horizons of what is possible for home surge protection,” said Lanson Relyea, product manager, Residential Breakers and Surge Protection, Eaton. “By combining a breaker with surge protection, the new CH and BR surge breakers improve effectiveness and response time, deliver greater protection and give homeowners added peace of mind.”
Available in both 30 and 50 ampere (amp) configurations, the SPD pairs a functioning two pole breaker with a surge protector, providing the necessary surge protection without using two positions in the load center. This dual configuration makes the CH and BR surge breakers an excellent choice for homes where there are a limited number of spaces available in the panel.
