Kevlar Saves Pakistani Officer from Tank Mine

DuPont Pakistan is emphasizing opportunities for growth and delivering new and varied applications to the personal protection market. Recently, flooring made of DuPont™ Kevlar® saved the life of a senior Pakistani army officer when his Jeep was suddenly struck by a tank mine.

The officer was sitting in the driver's seat, which was completely smashed and wrecked. Fortunately, the Jeep's flooring was layered with DuPont™ Kevlar® and the fragments of the mine could not penetrate it. Thanks to the stronger than steel performance of Kevlar®, the officer was not hurt.

Later investigations revealed that the use of Kevlar® in the flooring was the primary reason the driver survived. This incident has led to greater Kevlar® demand in Pakistan and the Pakistani Army is now looking at armoring more vehicles with Kevlar®.
