The Czech Republic laboratory operated by Exova, the global testing group, has become the first independent testing facility in the country to gain approval by aircraft manufacturer Airbus.
The global approval, following a rigorous technical and quality audit, means the Plzeň laboratory can now carry out testing directly for Airbus and for the company’s supply chain around the world.
The approval covers the full scope of Nadcap accredited aerospace testing services offered at Plzeň, including static, fatigue and fracture mechanics testing of metallic materials. Exova Plzeň, which earlier this year celebrated 10 years in business, becomes the ninth Exova global aerospace laboratory to achieve approval by Airbus. Exova carries out work for Airbus including structural tests and R&D support, with results playing a part in design data and materials selection.
Jiri Fidranský, general manager of Exova Plzeň, said: “Exova has a proud track record of helping Airbus to achieve its ambitions as the global leader in commercial and military aviation. “With increasing demand coming also from our customers in the Airbus supply chain, this approval, which follows a very high audit score, underlines our technical capabilities. “The approval also opens up opportunities to further support the needs of those customers in other key European markets including Germany, Austria and Switzerland.”
