Eaton Launches AEGIS Series Surge and Line Protection Solutions

Power management company Eaton today announced the launch of AEGIS™ Series surge and line protection solutions. The series combines superior surge protection and filtering capacitors designed to help original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) reduce downtime and maintenance costs.

The devices are engineered to help protect critical equipment and power supplies, including microprocessors, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human machine interface (HMIs) and computers.

“Electrical disturbances inside a building can cause damage to sensitive electronic devices over time with few visible indicators,” said Thomas Colcombe, product manager, Eaton. ”The AEGIS Series sets new standards in surge protection and line filtration to help reduce downtime and improve competitiveness.”

AEGIS Series devices are designed to meet evolving standards, including Underwriters Laboratories (UL®) 1449 3rd edition for surge protection and UL 1283 5th edition for line protection. The listings are the latest tests a manufacturer must pass before a product can be used to protect devices connected to the power distribution system. Eaton is one of the first in the industry to meet these standards, which will become mandatory in April 2014.

AEGIS Series devices include solutions specifically designed with low let-through voltages and provide high noise attenuation for critical loads and facilities with stringent application requirements. With a wide variety of configurations, OEMs can tap the AEGIS Series portfolio to select the best device for their equipment protection needs.

Eaton has engineered surge protection devices for more than 30 years, supporting reliable power and protecting valuable equipment. For more information, visit www.eaton.com/spd.
