Solvay to Merge Flouropolymer Activities with Ausimont

On January 1 2003, the fluoropolymers activities of Solvay will be merged with those of Ausimont. The merged activities will for a new company, Solvay Solexis.

The acquisition has cost Solvay 1.3 billion Euros and was the largest acquisition to date. Solvay Solexis will become the second largest producer of fluorinated specialties in the world.

The new company will be headquartered in Italy and will have operation in Italy, USA, France, Japan and Brazil. They will employ 1800 people including 250 researchers and turnover an estimated 600 million Euros.

The activities will be supported by those of the parent company who will also provide agent and distributors for their products.

Solvay Solexis will produce materials for industry sectors including:

  • Automotive
  • Aerospace
  • Electronics
  • Semiconductors
  • Telecommunications
  • Construction
  • Cosmetics
