Simula to Supply Ballistic Armour for US Army Armoured Security Vehicles

Simula have just received an order from Textron Systems to produce lightweight ceramic/composite appliqué armour kits. The armour will be used on US Army M117 Armoured Security Vehicles (ASV).

The order is for 25 kits, with an option for another 24. The initial 25 kits are worth $1.375 million. If the option on the additional 24 is taken, the order value will increase to $2.75 million. The most recent order will cater for the latest order of ASV’s, as Simula have already provided kits to the US Army for the initial 54 ASV’s.

Textron Systems manufactures the 4-wheeled armoured vehicles for use by the military police. The composite armour kits provide ballistic protection from small arms fire and fragment threats.

The lightweight armour adds little weight to the ASV’s aiding speed, agility and transportability.
