CERAM Building Technology (CBT), a division of CERAM, the internationally renowned centre for materials and technology based in Stoke-on-Trent, has established a relationship with the Polymer Cluster Centre.
The Polymer Cluster Centre, based at the Telford site of Wolverhampton University, provides a wide range of support services to small and medium sized companies throughout the West Midlands.
Resources available at the centre include polymer testing and processing, manufacturing and product development advice, marketing support facilities and a whole host of business operations support services.
The resources provided by CBT will boost the Polymer Cluster’s already impressive testing offer. A number of companies have been quick to take advantage of the new facility.
For example, thanks to CBT’s versatile testing facilities, detailed examinations of polymer based segmental inspection chambers were made possible under simulated earth pressure conditions. This enabled the company concerned to provide performance data for major water companies and give them the confidence in their specification.
The CBT test facilities now available through the Polymer Cluster have also already been used to load test polymer based crates for potatoes to ensure that they meet stacking safety requirements, and to investigate strength and deformability in polymer conduits to enable their safe and competitive development.
